The Joint Data Network was a $547 million project designed to enhance Defence Command and Control through the distribution and management of tactical and intelligence data between aircraft, ships, vehicles, and ground nodes.
Our team provided strategic Integrated Logistics Support through both Project and Transition Management to strengthen situational awareness. This included acquiring assets and embedding capability by transitioning the network into service for end-users.
Key Transitioning Projects:
Joint Interface Control System: Introduced an enduring monitoring and management system with expanded network coverage and connectivity, enabling improved data exchange across Defence, the joint battlespace, and allied/coalition partners.
Platform Modernisation: Modernised and replaced legacy systems while introducing new monitoring and management capabilities across Defence platforms, headquarters, and support elements. This significantly enhanced interoperability across Defence and the joint battlespace.
Integrated Broadcast Service: Expanded the integrated broadcast service capability onto Naval platforms and established an ADF interface node. This addressed obsolescence and capacity challenges, delivered enhanced system functionality, and sustained interoperability with coalition partners.
Results
Our team’s work has directly contributed to:
- Implementing a solution as part of the one-defence strategy for communication
- Enhancing legacy communication structures, by replacing obsolete equipment and systems through the acquisition and implementation of new capabilities
- Equipping end-users with skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully provide enhanced communication with allied partners, across the current and complex battle space
- International collaboration and real time data transfer from the point of origin to the community and end-users, negating multiple systems and transfer lag
